I miss him

Leon was a man filled with God's grace. He preached grace. He taught grace. And he modelled grace. He loved deeply and acted boldly. Thirty years ago God in His grace placed Pastor Leon in my life, changing forever the course of my life. He was a pastor who made me want to pastor. He loved the Lord. He loved the Scriptures. He loved people. Some time has passed now since he went home to heaven, and I find myself missing his phone calls, his insights, the faithful wounds of a friend, his humor.

Amy and Dan

Last summer Amy returned to Sportsman's Cove Lodge to enjoy Alaska's beauty for the fifth summer...the bears...the salmon...the bald eagles...the great people who own and run the lodge... the guests...and frankly, the hard work. But last summer was also a time for getting to know Dan Tupper. Dan was hired on to get the fleet ready for the fishing season and to do various maintenance jobs to keep the business running smoothly. This picture, taken up at the lodge, pretty much tells the whole story. Wedding plans are being made for July 18th!

Where there is water...there is a Sundberg

Gary at the new aquatic center in Madras.

The short story: Our mom was always afraid of water and made sure her kids never would be.

Brothers

This man with the microphone is my older brother, Gary.
The occasion is his 60th birthday. Impossible.
Although I eventually grew taller, I still look up to him.
Although our lives are full and many miles separate us, we miss spending time together. During our childhood we did practically everything together.
Anyway, he is a good man and a godly man and a great brother.
As long as I can remember he always won...at fishing and tennis and "twenty-one" and "around the world" behind the garage and golf and just about anything.
But that's okay, because he is number one in my opinion.
Happy Birthday, Gary!

Mt. Hood Beckons

There is something inviting about this powdery mountain...
exhiliaration and exhaustion...
Not one hour up the glistening sides and the questions surface...
'Why am I doing this?'
'Whose idea was this, anyway?'
Standing on top...the answers!
accomplishment...
spectacular eyefuls in every direction...
high fives and pix with fellow climbers...
standing amazed at what He has made...
Anyone want to come along?
